Traditional Pitha Culture of Bangldesh
Pitha home made cakes. Many kinds of pithas are made in Bangladesh. These are not part of the daily menu. They are served on special occasion such as receiving bridegrooms or brides, entertaining guests, and arranging special get together of family members, relatives or friends. Sometimes children or senior members of the family especially ask for pithas and accordingly, mothers or grandmothers make them. Pithas are of many different types. In some cases, neighbouring families jointly make pithas and use the occasion for chatting and having lunch or dinner together. Making various pitha is become our culture.

Sarat Chaindra Chattopadhaya,Bamkim Chandra Chattopadhaya Mir Mosharraf Hossain and Kazi Ahdul Wadud are the pioneers of modern Bengali Literature.

Bangladesh is a melting pot of races. She, therefore, has a mixed culture. Her deep rooted heritage is amply reflected in her architecture, literature, dance, drama, music and painting. Bangladesh is a Small Country. Most of our population are farmer. Aquaculture plays an important role in nutrition, income, employment and foreign exchange earnings in Bangladesh. Fish contributes approximately 80% of the animal protein intake of the Bangladeshi population, 3.5% of GDP and 9% of export earnings. Approximately 1.4 million people are directly engaged in fisheries; 11 million in part-time fishing and another 3 million in aquaculture. Bangladesh earns about US $ 230 million per annum through the export of fish and fisheries products. The fisheries of Bangladesh are very diverse and are comprised of inland openwater capture fisheries, inland and coastal aquaculture and marine fisheries. These contribute 46.5%, 28.5% and 25% respectively to the total fish production of 1.04 million tonnes.
